Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween everyone! If you haven't noticed before, I tend to take my blog postings in strides on my days off- so there are several updates all together. Sadly, I'll be working tonight for Halloween, but we are dressing up for the kids so I'll post pictures soon! Have a safe Halloween!

Here's Rocky in his costume- A Rockstar!! :)

This is our pumpkin patch picture from last year, no blog then, so I don't mind posting an old one!

Happy Fall Ya'll!!

I just love the Fall, I think Fall colors and decorations are my favorite, they just look so beautiful especially when the weather is changing, and goodness the weather has been wonderful! Last Thursday I went to a spouses group (for med students) and it was a lot of fun to hang out with other wives/kids/families and hear about all that I have to look forward to over the next few years, or not look forward to for that matter. I carved a pumpkin and made it a B! Colby came home from the library later that night and said, "You carved the family crest." He was teasing, but in a way I did and had fun doing it- I don't think I'll ever get sick of the last name change!

If you read my Canton post before you'll note that I'm not exactly "encouraged" to buy holiday decorations. Well, not that I'm not allowed, but when conserving funds from my solo income, I really can't justify my holiday splurges. BUT....I found in my wallet that I still had a Hobby Lobby gift card from last Christmas, so I took it and bought a cute turkey and a Give Thanks sign for our front door for 50% off!!! It made my day. Happy Fall!!

Happy Birthday Moms!

Today is my mom's birthday (on the left) and tomorrow the 20th is Colby's mom's birthday (on the right). I think it is so fun that they share a birthday a day apart. You are both so loving and wonderful and we can't imagine life without you! Hope your days are blessed! We love you both so much!

Light the Night

Colby and I walked in Light the Night this past weekend benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You probably saw our post from earlier about raising money and we thank all of those that donated for fighting these awful diseases. It was in downtown Ft. Worth in Sundance Square and there was a great turnout. A lot of the nurses and doctors from Cook's came as well as our patients and families. Everyone carried lighted balloons to spread awareness about blood-born cancers. We carried red balloons as participants, the gold balloons were in memory of someone and the white balloons were for survivors. It was awesome to see them all together and for representation from all of these perspectives, especially recent patients that have finished treatment and fought the fight!

Baylor Weekend!

Colby and I went to Waco this past weekend to visit friends. He finished his Muscular/Skeletal system module on Friday with 2 tests, so I was grateful that he was able to come with me. I had my 1905 roommate reunion on Friday night and we had a blast! We ate some yummy Gratziano's and laughed 'til our faces hurt then we all crashed way past our bedtimes at Amy's house. Thanks for hosting! It was amazing to see my girls and get an update on everyone's lives. I miss them all so much and wish we were closer, but I'm so glad that we all stay in touch so well. They are a blessing to live life with!

Grace, Lest, Ames, Me, and Meg (and Mason too!)
On Saturday, we went by Sarah's house to meet sweet baby Carter who was born in August. He is just precious and we loved getting to see the whole Carter family and Lisa too. We then went shopping at Spice and then ate Bush's Chicken and had a huge glass of sweet tea in all it's glory, oh how I miss it! Then some of the husbands joined us for the Baylor game. And guess what? We won!!! The Bears beat Iowa State 38-10. It was a great game and lots of fun. We loved being able to back our Bears again as well as watching all the BU students, hard to believe we were there once-and it hasn't even been that long. I guess we got old fast?!?
I love that we've added sweet babies to our pictures.

Look how well we coordinate with our BU colors!

CANTON!!

Last weekend was so much fun!!! My mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and cousin all came in town to go to what was the biggest shopping weekend of my life! We got up at 5:00am to leave Ft. Worth and head out to Canton, TX for the First Monday Trade Days. There were lots of people there all with a mission of finding good deals! And there were lots to be found! I don't think I can stress just how big this place is. For those of you that have been know that there is even a map so you can find everything from high end fancy stuff all the way to someone's garage sale that they happened to bring a bunch of junk and sit it in the grass hoping someone would buy. Then the fun thing is that all the ladies push around their shopping baskets since the place is too big to carry around all your purchases. Some people even rented scooters to ride around to all the places, clearly most did not "need" them, but even I was jealous of them at the end of the day when my feet and legs had felt like they ran a marathon. Then after we had recovered from the first day of shopping and went to dinner to relax, we hit up the outlet malls! We spent the night in Terrell and headed back to Canton for the morning to go back over a few regrets (not purchased items) and then back to Fort Worth. It was a great weekend with the girls and so fun to see all the new decor for the home. I could have spent all my money just in holiday decorations, but I resisted and Colby was proud.

Tia and Pat at the beginning of the morning, nothing in our baskets! :(

Well, we managed to get a "few" things to take home with us!
Home after a fun trip!

Stars Game

I got to go with my friend Claudia from work to my first Dallas Stars Game. It was a blast and a great treat! I have never been to a professional hockey game, so it was really fun to see all the sights. We hopped aboard the TRE which is a train that runs from downtown Ft. Worth to downtown Dallas. It was so handy and really quick with no traffic! Best of all it cost a mere 3 bucks, so that is an awesome gas saver! It was freezing in the American Airlines center so I was glad I brought a jacket. There were a ton of people there and they have their own cheers, etc. just like the Spurs games! Which brings me to my next point of all the Mavs stuff there at the arena...no way am I converting I love my Spurs!! :) There were tons of "hockey" fights where they throw their gloves down on the ice and duke it out. I was really surprised the refs let them do that, I guess a lot for entertainment or something, however I more enjoyed the fast pace of the game and hits against the wall, not the fist fights!

Here's a fuzzy camera phone pic, but you get the idea.
